Thanks for your newsletter and great info. I both sew and knit and have been planning to try knitting a stole, into which I will stitch liturgical symbols from graphs.

I think it would be lovely. But am wondering how to structure and "turn" the section in back of the neck.

Of course it is not the same as a scarf and needs to be placed differently upon the shoulders. Stoles appear to have a certain fit, almost like a mitered corner at the end which appears to reach just top of the collar. It looks pointed.

I'm trying to do without seaming or complexities such as provisional cast on.

Do you know anyone who has knit stoles or do you have any suggestions?

Our pastor is a knitter and our group thought it would be a fun gift, in which many people could participate by contributing a knitted patch, or knitted symbol.

I appreciate any suggestions or references you have.
Thank you.

Knitting a Stole
by: Lynne Green

Wow, we have never heard of knitting a stole. What an original and very cool idea! I wish we had some suggestions for you, but unfortunately neither one of us knows how to knit, and so we can't help you.

Would you be willing to post a picture of your finished stole? We'd love to see it.
