Pressing the Fabric and Finishing the Maniple

by Phil

Hi there, My aunt and I recently purchased one of your vestment kits, and we had a couple of questions. This is the first time we have attempted something like this: What is the procedure for pressing the acetate rayon blend material? I have been a bit nervous about over-heating it.

Also, where should we place the banding on the maniple? Thanks. Take care.

Use Steam Setting on Your Iron
by: Lynne Green

To press the fabric, put your iron on medium heat - not hot - and set it to steam. On my iron, I use the number 5 setting, but it will likely be different for your iron. To make sure the iron isn't too hot, test your iron on a scrap piece of fabric.

As far as adding banding to the maniple, you need to put the banding about 4 inches up from the end on both sides. (See the picture to get an idea of what we're talking about).
