pattern adjustment and fabrics

by Maureen
(Rochester NY)

I posted a question under "contact us", but I may have given a wrong e-mail and also saw this topic and thought it might be a better site.

I have to make a Chasuble for a vertically challenged Priest (about 5'3 or 4"). How do I adjust the pattern I just ordered from you and how much material do I need to buy?

The Chasuble is for Holy Thursday Mass, and I have never made one before, are there any specifics on the material used, what should I use for the liner?

Type of Fabric and Adjusting the Pattern

Hello Maureen,

If you have a vertically-challenged priest (we had one as well), then you will need to cut a few inches off the chasuble pattern all the way around. To make certain you have the right length, cut out the chasuble in the regular size and then have the priest model it. Then you will know exactly how much to trim off.

As for the fabric, you can use liturgical fabric or plain fabric. For the lining, I would recommend satin in a matching color.

Hope this helps, and good luck with your chasuble. It's not nearly as intimidating as it may seem.
